- from 1966 exiled to Algeria and France; later taught at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro
- 1982 final return to Brazil; membership in numerous institutions; his work received many awards; intensive planning and construction work until his death in 2012
- 2013 inclusion of his architectural archive in the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme
