Submission 2021
Enclosed you will find all the documents prepared by LDA through the Supreme Authority for the Protection of Monuments/UNESCO World Heritage, which have been forwarded to the Secretariat of the Conference of Ministers of Culture (KMK)/Office of the Conference of Ministers of Culture (Kultur-MK).
On the status of the 2021–2023 tentative process.
16 federal states have submitted up to 32 tentative proposals. In the next two years, a specially appointed advisory board will evaluate the proposals and cast a vote for the German tentative list. If the proposal “Karl-Marx-Allee and Interbau 1957. Architecture and Urbanism of Postwar Modernism” receives a positive vote, the Kultur-MK will decide to follow up and the actual nomination process will begin.
Only then – at the end of 2023 – would an elaborate nomination dossier have to be prepared by the state of Berlin and submitted to the relevant authorities in 2024 at the earliest. The examination of the dossier will then be carried out by an appointed UNESCO advisory organization and must finally be decided by the World Heritage Committee.
The structure of the attached documents is based on the guidelines for the submission of tentative proposals and the guidelines for the implementation of the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
