  • trained at the Baugewerbeschule Königsberg
  • 1905–1906 architect at the municipal building administration of Rixdorf; collaboration with Mies van der Rohe
  • 1906–1911 worked at Hermann Billing in Karlsruhe
  • from 1911 self-employed architect in Berlin
  • 1912 joined the office of his brother Bruno Taut and Franz Hoffmann, Berlin
  • 1918 founder member of the November Group and the Work Council for Art
  • 1919 co-founder of the artistic movement “Gläserne Kette” (Glass Chain)
  • 1922 participaed in the Chicago Tribune Building competition
  • 1922–1925 office building of the General Confederation of German Trade Unions; residential and commercial building of the Deutsche Buchdrucker, both in Berlin
  • 1927 house for the Weißenhofsiedlung, Stuttgart
  • 1945–1954 professorship at the Hochschule der Künste (now UdK), Berlin
